La La Land
These are images from La La Land, a series of photographs I made over a summer after my first year of grad school. I would obsessively comb the streets of Los Angeles stalking my prey. Even though these were made nearly 20 years ago, they continue to be some of my best work, my most compelling portraiture. They are so important to my development as an artist because I dropped everything I had previously known about photography and found myself with a camera on a tripod, making photographs as me, with my voice. Many of these photographs will be featured in my next, gigantic monograph called: Greg Friedler: HUMANITY, to be published by Galerie Vevais in Germany. The Europeans have always understood my work much better than Americans!!
